Job Description

Key Responsibilities
*
Conduct comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to assess students' cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
*
Administer, score, and interpret standardized psychological and educational assessments.
*
Identify students' learning, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs and provide appropriate recommendations.
*
Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and contribute to the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
*
Provide individual and group counseling to students in accordance with their IEPs and identified needs.
*
Develop and implement behavioral intervention strategies to support students' academic and social success.
*
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and assist with developing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs).
*
Provide crisis intervention and support students experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties.
*
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and interdisciplinary team members to develop effective student support strategies.
*
Provide consultation and guidance to school personnel regarding classroom behavior management and student mental health.
*
Monitor student progress and recommend modifications to interventions and support services as needed.
*
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential psychological evaluation reports, counseling notes, and student records.
*
Ensure compliance with applicable New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations, IDEA requirements, and school district policies.
Qualifications
*
Valid New York State School Psychologist Certification – Required
*
Master's degree, specialist degree, or doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
*
Previous experience working as a School Psychologist in a school-based setting preferred.
*
Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations and administering standardized psychological assessments.
*
Knowledge of special education regulations, IEP development, and CSE procedures.
*
Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD, and emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.
*
Strong assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral management skills.
*
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
*
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
*
Strong clinical documentation and report-writing skills.
*
